The Engineering and Technology society are on a roll… Another guest lecturer was invited over on campus this week. Engineer Ahmed Bou Shehri prepared an interesting presentation for our students. His lecture was definitely of added value to all. After introducing himself, and his career path, Engineer Ahmed then defined who and what an Electrical Engineer does. He defined Engineering as “The profession in which a knowledge of the mathematical and natural sciences gained by study, experience and practice is applied with judgment to develop ways to utilize, economically the materials and forces of nature for the benefit of mankind.” He also said Engineering is the creative art of applying science for the benefits of Humankind. He went on by talking about the importance of engineers in the society, and then electrical engineers in specific. He mentioned that nothing works without any electricity, especially today with all the arising technologies that we work with, this is all done with the help of electrical engineers. When asked where an electrical engineer can work post-graduation, his answer was simply Almost anywhere and everywhere requires an Electrical Engineer.
