Industrial Engineering Students Win Internship Spots at KOC & Mezzan

I.E students’ graduation projects competition was held during AUM’s festive Academic Activities and Projects Exhibition for the fall semester on December 29th 2014 where a 3 judge panel consisting of Nawal Najem, Senior Engineering Projects from KOC, Bassem Elderaidy, Group Manufacturing Director from Mezzan Holding, and Faisal Saleh, Recruiting and Kuwaitization Manager from Schlumberger evaluated the projects and chose the top two winning groups earning them 2 internship spots at KOC and Mezzan.
The first winning group project titled “Optimization of Overall Hospital Services” consisted of 5 group members: Fatima Abdullah, Hawraa Ali, Rawan Al-Awadhi, Najat Al-Shaer, Dana Mohammed. Their project earned them an internship spot at Mezzan Holding Company, a diversified conglomerate with more than 25 subsidiary companies operating in the fields of manufacturing, recycling, agriculture, FMCGs distribution to name a few.
As for the second winning group project titled “Evaluating and Refining Logistic Performance” consisted of 5 group members: Dana Al-Hajri, Batoul Al-Ebrahim, Alyaa Ali, Layal Al-Awadhi and Haya Al-Baker. Their project earned them an internship spot at Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) renowned for exploration, drilling and production of oil and gas within the State of Kuwait under Kuwait Petrol Company’s (KPC) umbrella. Both groups will be applying the knowledge gained from their course work at AUM and enhance their practical skills in the Industrial Engineering Field.
On this occasion Mr. Bassam Al Deraidy from Mezzan commended the overall enthusiasm shown amongst the groups stating that our students have the potential in excelling in the Industrial Engineering field. He was impressed by their perseverance to tackle the technical issues and details of their projects. Mr. Al Deraidy was positive that the future crop of our Industrial Engineering students will have a bright and promising future based on the level of work and commitment he witnessed.ind5
Ms. Nawal Najem from KOC in her own words was “amazed” by the level of education and professionalism that the groups demonstrated and that the strong knowledge base demonstrated their high capabilities in Industrial Engineering which will position them ahead in their future careers upon graduation.
