Students Competed in Argana Arts Competition

Six members of the AUM Art Club took part in an exciting art competition headed by Argana Hotels and Resorts, in partnership with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). Students Anfal Al Qallaf, Basma Al Majid, Lulwa Al Muhanna, Fatma Al Omani, Hessa Al Kandari, and Sara Al Khawari represented AUM proudly competing against students from local universities in Kuwait. This year’s theme, “The Power of Life from Generation to Generation,” provided students with a unique opportunity to design, express and challenge themselves through their art. According to competition rules, their artwork must reflect at least one of eight themes – including environmental sustainability, eradication of extreme poverty, promotion of gender equality, and reduction of child mortality – illustrated by the UNDP’s Millenium Development Goals. The students, who have been preparing for the art competition for months were treated to a VIP ceremony in celebration of their efforts on Feb. 6th 2014 at the C Club.
