AUM 7th Graduation Celebrates Students Success
Al Othman: We have full confidence that you will be the stars of Kuwait’s future

Under the patronage of HE Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education Dr. Hamed Al-Azmi represented by the Private Universities Council (PUC) Secretary General Dr. Habib Abul, the American University of the Middle East (AUM) held a graduation ceremony for its 2017-2018 College of Engineering and Technology and College of Business Administration students on AUM Cultural Center.

AUM Chairman Mr. Fahad Al Othman, AUM Provost Dr. Mohaned Hassanin, faculty, staff, and parents attended the graduation ceremony of 1119 students.

During the ceremony, Dr. Abul expressed his pleasure to share with graduates their success, by representing the Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education Dr. Hamed Al-Azmi.

Dr. Abul pointed out that PUC has witnessed AUM’s development since its opening in 2008, and he noted that AUM has achieved great success and progress in all fields.

In his speech, Al Othman congratulated graduates on their brilliant success, calling on them not to focus on concerns and negative images and not to surrender to the difficulties and obstacles because that would be unfair to them and to Kuwait.

Al Othman left students with a message: “At AUM, we have taught you challenge and perseverance to overcome difficulties and we have full confidence that you will be the stars of Kuwait’s future”.

Graduates also gave speeches describing their journey at AUM and expressing their feelings and their deep gratitude for the support the university has given them.

Computer Engineering graduate Mariam Ali thanked AUM and the parents for their supports and she said: “We are gathered here to commemorate the journey we have shared together over the past few years—a journey that has prepared us for what lies ahead, a journey that has taught us lessons we will value for the rest of our lives”.

“We weren’t the only ones changing: AUM has been changing with us. It has been evolving so continually that every time I enter the campus I am surprised by new buildings and facilities I haven’t seen before”.

“Our Professors taught us that life is not about what degree you have or how high your grades are, but how good you are as a person and what impact you have on people’s lives. So thank you to all of the wonderful professors and faculty at AUM. None of us would be here today if it weren’t for you”, she added.

On her part, Industrial Engineering graduate Fatemah Mohammad said: “Besides all the hard work and the pressure we were in, there was something common in all of us. We were all students at AUM. Being an AUM student was a privilege and being its graduate is also a privilege. AUM is an amazing academic base that fosters students with skills and talents, helps them prove themselves, and make them show their achievements to the world”.

She concluded: “I was lucky enough to be one of the selected students to represent Kuwait and AUM in Washington DC at the 3rd North American IEOM conference. I have returned with a first place prize and today I stand in front of you as a proud AUM Graduate and an engineer at KNPC”.

In his turn, business graduate Athbi Hamad said to the class of 2018: “While the idea of material success does influence our lives heavily, I ask you to strive to be the best version of yourself. Be happy, do what makes you happy and follow your dreams”.

Finally, business graduate Fatemah Najem said: “I believe that here, in AUM our instructors had succeeded in shaping our personalities and creating the best leaders and I’m sure that they wouldn’t accomplish this without making us love what we do. So, thank you for your effort and love”.

“To the graduating class of 2018! If you want to achieve anything in life, start by loving yourself and then your work and everything else will follow. On the other side of that door, there is a world starving for new leaders who can succeed only through love”, Najem concluded.
